The Chacon Middle School seventh grade Bengals team continued their offensive onslaught Saturday, rolling to a 45-0 victory over the Weslaco Mary Hoge Middle School Jaguars and improving their season record to 3-0.
Running back Nathan Contreras put another six points on the board, recording his first touchdown of the season and adding to the Bengals’ lead.
Contreras turned on the jets on a sweep to the right, taking the handoff and racing past the defense untouched for a 35-yard touchdown.
Brendon Rodriguez scored the team’s first touchdown of the day.
Shane Sandoval added another touchdown, rumbling into the end zone on a big 30-yard run of his own.
The Bengals led 30-0 in the second quarter with 4:18 remaining on the clock and carried the shutout into halftime, holding the Jaguars scoreless through the first two quarters.
The Bengals continued their offensive attack to open the second half. Dominic Nunez capped a three-play drive with a touchdown run, pushing the Bengals’ advantage to 38-0.
The Bengals continued to show their offensive power while the defense kept the Jaguars from finding any rhythm. The visitors struggled to move the ball as the Bengals maintained a tight defensive stance and continued applying pressure.
The Bengals crashed down on the running game, pressured the quarterback and eventually took over on downs.
On the very next play, Sandoval took the handoff and broke loose for another 35-yard touchdown run. The extra point was good, giving the Bengals a commanding 45-0 lead.
The Bengals’ defense held firm the rest of the way to preserve the shutout and secure the victory.
With the win, the Bengals improve to 3-0 on the season. They will travel to face La Feria Middle School on the road Saturday.

Shane Sandoval scored an explosive 35-yards for the touchdown.
