The American Legion J.A. Garcia Post 172 will hold its next Social meeting on Wednesday, October , at 7 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend. 

The local American Legion is accepting applications for participants in the upcoming Veterans Day Parade. 

Members are also preparing to attend the Fall Convention Oct. 24-25 in McAllen. 

Members are also preparing for the Nightmare on Ohio Street Block Party on Oct. 29 and are requesting candy donations for local trick-or-treaters. Stop by and see the mural commemorating J.A. Garcia and the great wars and tribute to the soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice defending freedom. 

The organization recently hosted a reception following the unveiling of the Dr. Hector P. Garcia street dedication. 

Community members are encouraged to submit photographs of local veterans for inclusion in the Veterans Day edition of the newspaper. Photos may be emailed to the newspaper or delivered to Tony. 

Join the Post for Fish Fry Friday and dinner on Tuesday for Fried Chicken & Burgers.
