Texas Street Festival Returns Sept. 5 to Historic Downtown Mercedes

Historic Downtown Mercedes will once again become the center of Labor Day weekend festivities Sept. 5 as the 18th Annual Texas Street Festival welcomes visitors from throughout the Rio Grande Valley and beyond for a full day of entertainment, food, music and family activities.

“We are super excited to welcome everyone from the Rio Grande Valley and surrounding areas of the Coastal Bend, Laredo, San Antonio and Mexico to Historic Downtown Mercedes,” said Fred Gonzalez, immediate past president of the Mercedes Chamber of Commerce.

Gonzalez said this year’s festival will offer a variety of attractions designed to provide something for everyone in the family.

Among the attractions planned are a car show, children’s petting zoo, Jurassic dinosaurs, free children’s carnival rides, food vendors and live music.

“And of course, award-winning music,” Gonzalez said.

The Texas Street Festival is described as the largest and longest-running Labor Day celebration in the Rio Grande Valley, bringing the community together for a full day of live music, food, art and family-friendly entertainment in Historic Downtown Mercedes.

Hosted by the Mercedes Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the City of Mercedes, the festival transforms Texas Avenue into a vibrant destination featuring local vendors, performers and cultural experiences.

The annual celebration also provides an opportunity for local businesses, organizations and vendors to connect with residents and visitors while showcasing their products, services and talents.

Festival organizers are inviting families from Mercedes, communities across the Rio Grande Valley, the Coastal Bend, Laredo, San Antonio and Mexico to make plans to spend Sept. 5 in Historic Downtown Mercedes.

With live entertainment, food, attractions and activities for children, organizers say the Texas Street Festival will offer a full day of family-friendly fun while celebrating the community and the region.

Organizers said, mark your calendar for Sept. 5 and head to Historic Downtown Mercedes for the Texas Street Festival.
