Commander’s Message

The American Legion Post 172 will hold its next Business Meeting on Wednesday, June 24, at 7 p.m.

During our last meeting, the Election of Officers were led by American Legion District 15 Commander Edward Villafranca.

We had a successful Scholarship Awards Banquet on Saturday. We handed out 11 awards totaling $10,000 to 11 student graduates.

Boys State candidates returned from their training.

An American Legion Riders photo by Raul Garcia won first place in the Texas Veterans Commission Media Excellence competition. In 2023, Garcia won runner up for his photo of Commander Juan Moya.

Regular kitchen hours are 4:30–7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, featuring fried chicken and hamburgers on alternating weeks, along with the Friday Fish Fry.

With strong community involvement and continued advocacy, the American Legion remains committed to supporting veterans and outreach programs.

As plans move forward to construct a new post building, fundraising efforts are increasing. The project will rely on donations and community support, and members can expect a letter soon outlining ways to contribute.

Legion Hall is available for weekend rentals. For reservations, call Tony Sanchez at 956-565-2362.

American Legion Post 172 thanks the community for its continued support in serving veterans and their families.
