We caught up to Luke Rocha  to talk about his school experience and future plans. He said he will be attending  UTRGV, and is the son of  Joey and Christine Rocha. Here is what he had to say to our questions: 

Q: What are your immediate plans after graduating from high school?

A: Graduate with my bachelor’s degree in business then go to law school to become an attorney. 

Q: Who’s the most influential person in your life?

A: I would say my lord and savior Jesus Christ because without him I am nothing. I give all glory to God for blessing me and guiding me as a young man. 

Q: What is your favorite famous quote?

A:  “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord…” — The Bible (Jeremiah 29:11)

Q: How would you describe your overall experience in high school?

A: My high school experience was great. And I would thank my friends for that as well as teachers and administrators at Mercedes High School, they gave me the best experience I could ever ask for. As well as my coaches, we went 11-0 in football my senior year and accomplishing that was something that will be talked about for generations, and to say my class did it is an honor.

Q: What advice would you give to incoming high school students based on your experiences?

A: To focus on their class work and live in the moment. These 4 years go by really fast. When I think about the time I was a freshman to now, it feels like a lot has changed. But great memories came with everything. So do not miss out on those memories and live in the moment and enjoy every moment you have.
