Staff Report

The Magic Valley Retired School Personnel Association (MVRSPA), part of TRTA District 1, held its annual Children’s Book Project on Friday, April 25 at Zachary Taylor Elementary in Mercedes. 

With help from Principal Cecilia Sarmiento and Librarian Lynda Garza, MVRSPA 2nd Vice President Maria Gomez led the effort to select and distribute books to every student. 

Volunteers from MVRSPA handed out the books, sparking smiles and excitement across the campus.

Each year, the organization selects an elementary school to support with donated funds for book purchases. 

MVRSPA welcomes all retired educators to attend monthly meetings held on the second Thursday at noon at Arturo’s in Weslaco
