Mercedes Lions Club To Host Halloween Fundraiser
The Mercedes Lions Club will be hosting their first Halloween themed fundraising event on October 27th at the First National Ballroom in Mercedes from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. According to organizers, this is an adults-only event where guests can look forward to dressing up, drinking good cocktails, and eating good food, all for a good cause.
The Mercedes Lions Club is committed to serving the needs of the local community to improve health and wellbeing, strengthen bonds, and support those in need through humanitarian service.
Stephanie Ramirez, one of the organizers of the event, said that this night of fun is for the community, because all proceeds made by the event will go directly back into the Mercedes community for the purchase of an eye exam machine.
“We’re excited…It would be able to help the community get an eye exam at no cost,” Ramirez said.
The goal of the fundraiser is to get as many members of the community to contribute to the event to help fund future goals and projects of the Mercedes Lions Club.
General guest admission will be $35, but there are package sponsorship offers that include 8 tickets and various other benefits.
The Gold and Platinum sponsorships, $300 and $500 respectively, gives groups a reserved VIP table, 8 admission tickets, a gift basket for the table, as well as formal recognition of their support by the event staff for each and every sponsor.
All admission tickets allow every guest to partake in an open cocktail bar, a silent auction, door prizes, and a costume contest with a grand prize for the winner. Costumes are optional, but highly recommended if you want to enter the contest, or you can simply wear a mask or makeup to join the fun.
Should the event generate enough revenue, the Lions Club will be able to purchase the machine and give eye exams to those who need them for free.
To reserve a VIP table or general admission ticket, contact the Lions Club at 956-472-7847. Tickets can also be purchased at Texas National Bank with Peggy Yanez.
If you are interested in joining the Lions Club, meetings are every first and third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion Post 172 building in Mercedes.
