Mercedes Begins Celebration of 100 Years of Music

A century of musical tradition is taking center stage at Mercedes Independent School District as the district officially begins its 100 Years of Music celebration.
District and campus leaders recently joined the Mighty Tiger Band Boosters, students, alumni and community members for the unveiling of a newly updated Tiger Band trailer, marking an early milestone in the yearlong celebration.
The trailer project was made possible through the vision and dedication of the Mighty Tiger Band Boosters, along with the generosity of local sponsors and community partners.
The 100th anniversary celebration provides an opportunity for Mercedes ISD to recognize the generations of students, directors, parents, alumni and community supporters who have helped build the district’s music program throughout its history.
District officials said the celebration is about honoring those who came before, recognizing the accomplishments of today’s music programs and looking ahead to the future.
As Mercedes ISD begins its centennial celebration, the district and its community are celebrating a legacy that has brought generations together through music — while looking forward to the performances, traditions and memories still to come.
The newly revealed Tiger Band trailer will serve as another symbol of that continuing tradition as Mercedes ISD celebrates 100 years of music, memories and Tiger pride.
