Parker signs with UTRGV
Mercedes track and field standout Isabella Parker’s hard work and dedication have earned her a spot at the Division I level, signing to compete with UTRGV.
“I’m super excited,” Parker said. “It’s really a dream come true. I made it here, and I’m proud and thankful for all the support I’ve received.”
Now the school’s all-time record holder in the high jump (5’6), 100-meter (15.3) and 300-meter (45.9) hurdles, Parker officially signed her letter of intent during a ceremony held last Wednesday at Mercedes High School. She was joined by teammates, family members, coaches, and school administrators. Her impressive collection of more than 50 track and field medals was also on display.
“I think that is a really good accomplishment,” Parker said.
Despite her accomplishments, Parker says she still has unfinished business.
She heads into this week’s District Championship Meet in Mercedes as a favorite, aiming to extend her season and advance to state competition. Parker is a two-time defending district champion in the high jump and has dominated the season, earning first-place finishes at the Jimmy Platt Relays, Bobby Morrow Relays, Earl Scott Relays, Lyford Bulldog Relays, and the Meet of Champions.
