Eustacio “Tacho” Flores Remembered as Devoted Family Man and Man of Service

Eustacio “Tacho” Flores, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great‑grandfather, passed away on March 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. His life was defined by service, dedication, humor, and a deep commitment to those he cherished.

Tacho proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, carrying with him the discipline and resilience that shaped the rest of his life. After his military service, he worked for many years at Queen City Laundry in Mercedes, TX as a route driver and salesman. Following his time there, he continued his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family while building lasting friendships along the way.

He later worked as a loader with G&K Laundry in Houston, TX; as a Ready-Mix driver with Dorsett Bros. Concrete and Supply in Pasadena, TX; and as a Ready-Mix driver with Spence Concrete Company in the Valley. Tacho also proudly served his community as a South Texas ISD custodian and bus driver, and later as a Mercedes ISD bus driver and crossing guard. He touched countless lives with his kindness, patience, and steady presence, becoming a familiar and trusted figure to generations of students and families. He especially enjoyed meeting for breakfast with his friends and co‑workers, valuing the camaraderie, conversation, and routine that came with those cherished mornings together.

In his youth, he loved playing basketball with his sons and friends at local community parks, creating memories filled with laughter, competition, and the joy of being together. He was also a Little League coach to his sons, guiding them and their teammates with encouragement, patience, and pride.

Tacho found joy in every part of his children’s lives. He loved watching his daughter and youngest child, Contessa, perform at her ballet recitals and later as a proud Mercedes High School Debonaire. He cherished every moment listening to and supporting his son and middle child, Eric, during his band concerts and performances, always beaming with pride. He also supported his eldest son, Tacho Jr., through every half marathon, full marathon, and the many 5K and 10K runs he completed over the years, cheering him on with unwavering encouragement. He loved supporting his children during their sporting events throughout their school years – always present, always proud, and always cheering from the sidelines.

Family time meant everything to him. He treasured weekend getaways, the countless shared moments, and the adventures that brought the family closer. He was his wife Dora’s biggest supporter, cheering her on during bodybuilding competitions and the many 5Ks, 10Ks, and fun runs she participated in. Tacho even filled the home with gym equipment to help support her training and goals – a true partner in every sense.

He enjoyed dancing, joking, and spending time with his loved ones. He especially cherished the friendships he and his wife formed while spending time at local dance halls, where they met other couples who shared their love of music and dancing. Those connections grew into meaningful friendships that extended well beyond the dance floor, and he deeply valued the companionship and memories they shared over the years.

Movie nights, always with popcorn, were among his favorite pastimes, especially when watching action films, comedies, and classic Western TV shows. He loved recalling his favorite movies and shows with his wife and children, laughing together at the funny moments and memorable scenes.

He was an uncle and grand‑uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, bringing warmth, humor, and generosity to every gathering.

Tacho is survived by his loving wife, Dora Flores; his eldest son Eustacio “Tacho Jr.” Flores, Jr. and his wife Bethany M. Flores; his son Eric Josue Flores and his wife Rachel Flores; and his daughter Contessa Grecia Martinez and her husband Ramiro Martinez.
