Kid Zapper Donates Raffle Proceeds to RGVLS Director

Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show Director Luis Saldana was presented with a donation check by the Kid Zapper during a special moment at the Kid Zapper Zachary Le Blues Cafe located in downtown Mercedes.

This year, the local musician raised $695 by selling raffle tickets for a chance to win one of his signature Bud Light guitars at his Saturday RGVLS performance.

“Cowboys Kicking Cancer is a big event at the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show, and Kid Zapper has always been a big part of that,” Saldana said. “He comes out and he spends the whole week there promoting the idea of cancer awareness and as part of that he collects donations for a raffle for a custom guitar donated by himself and the great folks at Budweiser. And the impact that outside of the awareness is that financial contribution that helps support the whole cause and helping people battling cancer themselves, those who have been through it or their care givers.”

The Kid Zapper, a musician and longtime supporter of Cowboys Kicking Cancer, raised the funds by raffling a guitar during this year’s RGV Livestock Show. His ongoing efforts to give back have become a highlight of the annual event.

Through music and generosity, the Kid Zapper continues to inspire the community and champion causes close to his heart.

The Kid Zapper said his inspiration to help those battling cancer comes from the memory of his friend and former karate instructor, Johnny Valdivia, who passed away from kidney cancer. “He asked me to use the karate school to fight cancer,” Saldana said. “That’s what drives me to keep going.”
